What Tests Should I Take?
Make sure you look up the specific test requirements for the schools that you are applying to and look at practice tests to find which test best fits you.
Most schools require you to take the SAT or the ACT and some recommend that you also take SAT subject tests.

SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test)
The SAT has three major sections:
1) Math
2) Reading
3) Writing

The test is 3 hours long with a 50 minute optional essay. You can score a total of 1600 points. Check the stats for incoming freshmen at the colleges you hope to attend to see what you need to score to be competitive for that school.

ACT
The ACT has four major sections:
1) English
2) Math
3) Reading
4) Science

The test is 2 hours and 55 minutes long with a 40 minute optional essay. You can score a total of 36 points. Check to see if the school you hope to attend accepts the ACT.
Learn more at www.act.org/.

SAT Subject Tests
Most schools do not require the subject tests. These tests are hour long and surround a specific subject. Check to see if your school requires you to take subject tests. If you score well on these tests, it can enhance your application and even allow you to place out of some introductory-level classes.
